The Essentials for International Tequila Day!

Happy International Tequila Day everyone! I have a love hate relationship with this spirit. I love it because it tastes delicious and I always have lots of fun when I drink it. The hate kicks in the next day when, looking like a boiled vegetable on the couch, I think that I could have stopped at the 3rd Margarita…

Today it is the day when we forget that there is a “tomorrow” and we celebrate this spirit making these delicious and easy cocktails!

Mexican Mule

If you love a good Moscow Mule you’ll find this one delicious too. This is the kind of drink on which you can sip on all night and it finishes before you have time to make another one. I prefer an aged tequila for this one, the smokiness goes a treat with the ginger beer and grapefruit.

All you need to make this Mexican Mule is Tequila, fresh grapefruit juice, ginger beer, agave syrup and ice.

Grapefruit Tequila Slammer

This one is for those of you who have a sweet tooth but not too sweet. The recipe for this one is based on another drink with tequila called “The Slammer”, hence the name. It is very easy to make, a little fizzy and incredibly refreshing!

All you need is white tequila, lemon and lime soda, fresh grapefruit juice and a couple of grapefruit slices to garnish… Check out the full recipe on Self Proclaimed Foodie’s blog.

Mango Margarita

If you love margaritas but you like refined sugar a little less, this recipe is made for you! It uses only fresh ingredients, the prerogative? A good, juicy, ripe and sweet mango. I am already daydreaming of sipping on this at the beach and instead I am stick in an office in bloody London!

Your shopping list to make this cocktail will have to include: mangoes peeled and diced, fresh orange juice, lime juice, tequila, orange liqueur, salt flakes and lots of ice. Find the full recipe and method on Downshiftology’s blog…

The Lucky Shamrock

The recipe for this one was originally created for St. Patrick’s Day but we like it A LOT so any day, and especially Tequila Day, is a good day to enjoy this one! I particularly like the bitter-sweet taste of the apple with the lime so I would not add any sugar syrup or agave.

The ingredients that you’ll need to make this cocktail are: tequila, sour apple liqueur, lime juice, agave and lemon soda (like sprite). Garnish it with a slice of apple and a wedge of lime! Full recipe and method on No Spoon Necessary blog.

Tequila Lime Ice Cream

If you have never had home made ice cream, you are missing out on a world of flavour. I bet that once you try this one you’ll never, ever go back to the tubs of Häagen-Dazs and Ben and Jerry’s. This particular one is super fresh and makes the perfect after dinner treat ?

You will only need 5 ingredients to make it: coconut milk, double cream, caster sugar, grated zest of 2 limes, lime juice and white tequila! Check out how to mix it on From the Larder blog.
