7 Easy St. Patrick’s Day Cocktails You Need to Try

On Friday the 17th, the Irish in  particular, commemorate St. Patrick and his quest to convince the Irish pagans to convert to Christianity. Why does everything turn green then? Shamrocks are to blame and Pat too: he used the three-leaved clover to describe the Holy Trinity to the skeptics. And why is it the perfect day to make cocktails? Christians are allowed a cheat day during Lent – to drink, eat and celebrate!

These 7 cocktails are delicious and perfect to make on St. Patrick’s day – enjoy!

St. Patrick’s Day Cocktail

Ingredients:

  • 1-3 teaspoon of Sugar (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon of water
  • a pinch of ginger (grated)
  • 3 medium basil leaves
  • 3 mint leaves
  • Juice of 1/2 a lime
  • 30ml of white rum
  • club soda

How to mix:

Break  the basil and mint leaves in a few pieces so that all the flavour comes out. Put the sugar, herbs, water, ginger, lime juice and rum in a cocktail shaker and shake well with ice! Strain in a glass filled with ice and top with soda.

Celery and Coriander Sipper

Ingredients:

  • 30ml Vodka (or cucumber & basil infused Vodka if you’re feeling fancy!)
  • 2-3 Stalks of Celery
  • 85g of Coriander
  • 15ml of Ginger Syrup
  • Lime Juice

How to mix:

Using a juicer, extract all the juice from the celery and coriander. You can also blend them and strain the mix using a sieve if you don’t have a juicer! Shake the vodka, ginger syrup, celery and coriander juice, and the juice of 1/2 a lime in a shaker with ice. Serve in a glass with a large cube of ice and garnish with celery leaves.

Green Apple Ginger Martini

Ingredients:

  • 60ml of ginger infused vodka (click here to know how to make this)
  • 60ml of fresh green apple lime juice (click here to know how to make this)
  • 7.5ml maple or honey simple syrup (made by mixing equal parts of maple syrup or honey with filtered water until fully dissolved)
  • Crushed ice

How to mix:

Add all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker and fill half of it with ice. Shake very well until the liquid is super cold – strain in a cold martini glass and garnish with a thin slice of apple!

Cucumber Vodka Soda

Ingredients:

  • 90ml of fresh cucumber juice (you will need 2 to 3 seedless cucumbers to extract this)
  • 30ml of freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 30ml of vodka
  • 15ml of simple syrup
  • 60ml of cold soda lime water
  • Crushed ice for serving
  • Lime and cucumber slices to garnish

How to mix:

To make the cucumber juice, peel the cucumbers and pop them in a juicer. If you don’t have a juicer, blend them adding a little bit of water and strain the mix to extract the juice using a sieve. Mix all the ingredients except from the soda water in a cocktail shaker and shake until very cold. Serve in a glass over ice and top with soda water!

Avocado And Lime Margarita

 

Ingredients:

  • ½ avocado, flesh scooped
  • 90ml of tequila
  • 60ml of triple sec
  • 45ml of lime juice
  • Pinch of salt, plus extra to sprinkle
  • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • Coriander sprigs and lime slices for garnish
  • Ice

How to mix:

Mash the avocado using a fork and mix it with the tequila, triple sec, lime juice, coriander and ice in a cocktail shaker until everything is nice and creamy. Strain in a glass over ice, sprinkle a little bit of salt over it and garnish with the lime. Serves 2!

The Dublin Salad

Ingredients:

  • Handful of fresh Rocket
  • 2 Lemon wedges
  • 15ml Simple Syrup
  • 15ml Pear Nectar
  • 45ml Jameson Irish Whiskey

How to mix:

Muddle the rocket, lemon wedges, simple syrup and pear nectar in a cocktail shaker. Add the the whiskey and shake vigorously for 5 seconds. Strain in a glass over ice and garnish with an rocket leaf!

The Green Garden

Ingredients:

  • 60ml of Soltado Tequila
  • 60ml of homemade apple-celery juice
  • 15ml jalapeño-infused honey
  • 30ml lemon juice
  • 2 rosemary sprigs
  • 2 thyme sprigs
  • 2 slices candy cane beet

How to Mix:

Shake all the liquid ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice until cold. Strain in a glass over ice and garnish with rosemary, thyme, and beet slices.
