The Story of Portobello Road Gin

We are fast approaching April which means a matter of all things good…most importantly, a new cocktail kit from us and the start of Spring! This month we’ve teamed up with Portobello Road Gin to create an epic Negroni cocktail kit to celebrate these last few colder days and the coming of warmer weather!

The Gin…Portobello negroni

It all began at No.171 Portobello Road, released by the award-wining Notting Hill bar, Portobello Star, home of the Ginsitute*. It’s an old-style London Dry Gin, containing 9 traditional botanicals and spices.

A traditionally styled London Dry Gin, with the base spirit distilled here in England from English grown wheat and botanicals from around the world. These include juniper and orris from Tuscany, Spanish lemon peels, bitter orange peels from Haiti and Morocco, nutmeg from Indonesia and cassia bark from South East Asia. These botanicals are all steeped for 24 hours in the neutral grain spirit and then distilled by 8th generation London Distiller Charles Maxwell and bottled at 42%.

It makes a fantastic G&T garnished with a twist of grapefruit but we hope you will agree that it is an exceptionally versatile gin that works perfectly in a Negroni or even a martini too.

Portobello Road Gin will be featuring in our April Negroni Kit – join now to be the first to receive this kit and try this delicious gin.

*Nestled away on the top two floors of a 19th Century pub on London’s world famous Portobello Road is a tiny Still Room named The Ginstitute: London’s second-smallest museum and home to a 30l alembic still named Copernicus.
